This is my top 10 with sustainable tips!
Hi👋, I'm Lisette Wegman, the founder and creator of the Green Escape. Sustainability and a more responsible and social life have played a role in my life for quite some time. I am not 'dark' green, but I notice that small adjustments can have a big impact. In this blog I share my top 10 with sustainable tips with you. Practical changes that are not only good for the planet, but are also easy to apply in your daily routine. From green search engines to toothpaste pills, these are my favorites!

1. Ecosia - The search engine that plants trees
A super easy first step to a greener lifestyle is to replace your default search engine with Ecosia . For every search you make, Ecosia plants a tree. The revenue from ads goes to fund reforestation projects around the world. How great is that: by doing something you do every day, you contribute to a greener world!

2. Wesmyle - Toothpaste pills
No more plastic tubes! With Wesmyle toothpaste tablets you can brush your teeth responsibly. These tablets are completely plastic-free, vegan, and of course biodegradable. Just chew a tablet and your toothbrush does the rest. They are also available for children with less fluoride. I am completely convinced!

3. Bath Foam Soap Bar
Why buy liquid soap in plastic bottles when you can use a soap bar ? They last longer, are often made from natural ingredients, and don't require plastic packaging. They come in all sorts of delicious scents, so there's always one that suits you. Available at every drugstore and supermarket. I recently got the one from Foamie, nice scent and easy to use.

4. MyWheels - Drive when you need it
Have you ever thought about MyWheels if you need a car every now and then? The concept of car sharing is perfect if you drive less often. You save on maintenance, insurance and you reduce your CO2 footprint. Moreover, you are not tied to your own car that is often standing still.

5. Flower Farm - Butter without palm oil
Palm oil has a bad reputation because of the deforestation it causes. Flower Farm offers a nice alternative: vegetable butter without palm oil. It is not only good for the planet, but also delicious on bread or to cook with. This week I also bought both the chocolate spreads for in my home.

6. Plug with reversible plugs
How often do you forget to turn off appliances when they are not in use? I don't, but someone else in my house does 😉. With a plug with reversible plugs you can easily interrupt the power supply to your appliances. This prevents standby consumption and saves energy without having to put in much effort. And it works, he now also converts the plug 👌😁👍
7. Use devices for as long as possible, or choose a Fairphone
One of the best sustainable choices you can make is simply to keep your devices for as long as possible. Just like your old car, your devices are better off until they stop working. Still in need of a new phone? Consider the Fairphone . This brand is known for its modular design and ethical manufacturing processes, which means you can easily replace parts instead of throwing the whole device away. I've been using the Fairphone for a year now and I'm very happy with it. You don't have to assemble the phone yourself...

8. Library - Borrow your books
Before the concept of sustainability existed, this already existed! Actually a no-brainer, super accessible and easy, because would you rather not buy a new book every time? Then go to the library. This year I became a member and you can borrow a lot of books, from bestsellers to niche titles, without your house being filled with stuff that you only read once. Moreover, it is a lot cheaper!

9. Train to London
Last year I took the train to London, and I can recommend it to everyone. It is a much more sustainable alternative than flying, and it is also fun. You do not have to wait for hours at an airport, you travel comfortably (on the way back I was in first class) and you arrive directly at the heart of the city.

10. Invest Sustainable
Do you want to grow your money and make the world a little better? Then choose to invest sustainable. Nowadays, you can easily invest in companies that focus on green energy, circular economy, and other sustainable initiatives. In this way, your money contributes to a better future. If you find investing exciting, consider ETFs, a basket of shares that will easily spread your money.

In addition to my top 10, there is another organization that I would like to add to my sustainable list for next year: The Good Roll: toilet paper made from recycled paper without harmful chemicals, and a part of the profits go to building toilets in developing countries.

Do you have any sustainable tips?
